Apple Hits The 10 Billion Mark
Well the count down to the 10 billionth song sold started just a little over a week ago it seems and they just turned over the 10,000,0000,0000 iTunes download. Louie Sulcer was the lucky winner of the contest and will of course get the $10,000 iTunes shopping card, but he got something unexpected too. Steve Jobs dialed up this lucky winner just to congratulate him on his win. Apparently Sulcer thought this was a prank call until he looked at the caller id and he said it only had one word on it “Apple”.
The song that actually turned over the extra digit in Apples sales, was by Johny Cash and only a fitting title “Guess Things Happen That Way”, seems a.most to coincidental, but they say the truth is stranger than fiction right? This song will go down in the record books for sure. It was a surprise to some who speculated the song to turn it over to be one of the new pop songs from Lady Gaga or Black Eyed Peas, these are some of the biggest selling artists on iTunes right now. The man in black had his day today and we want to congratulate Louie Sulcer for sharing his exiting news. It’s not like Bill Gates would have picked up the phone!
Many deemed this as a early publicity stunt to get the word out about iTunes, the Apps Store and the iPad, but really who hasn’t heard of these already. We’ll buzz you later!
