Windows and Android may not sound like a match made in heaven, but the fact that the latest release of Windows that will be coming to stores near you very soon, will be offering “apps” tells you that this is where things are going. Mobile is so huge that that there are no more mobile internet devices activated than actual PC’s and Mac’s. It sounds strange, but when you think about it, there are very few people who do not have one if not more than one mobile device that allows them to get to the web like a cell phone, tablet device or mobile gaming system. So the question is are you looking for more apps?

If you answered yes, then the TechBloq Team has a very pleasant surprise for you today. We have just happened to run across what we think is one of the coolest software tech nuggets we have seen in a very very long time. The BlueStacks application will allow you to run Android Apps on your desktop and if you are already using the Android OS on another device you can even synchronize your apps across your other devices and to your PC, how friggin sweet is that!

Do The Apps Work?

Surprisingly yes! All the apps that we have tested thus far actaually work and work well. The BlueStacks App Player, seems to have got it right. We are sure at some point, there may be some issues with apps that are looking for a gyroscope or accelleromitor, but the majority of all applications can get by with substituting your computers keyboard, mouse, monitor, microphone and camera for one that would otherwise be on the Android tablet or phone.

Do I have To have An Android Device To Use The BlueStacks App?

No, not at all. If you do have an Android enabled phone or tablet, there are some cool features that this makes available. However, you can run this Android virtualization app as a standalone program on any Windows computer.

Why Mobile Apps and Mini Programs Are Making A Comeback

They say all things are cyclical and the computer world is no different. In years past, people were trying to integrate everything and create large bulky apps that performed many different tasks. Now, the industry is moving back towards simplicity and Microsoft wants a piece of that pie. Microsoft has two different Windows environments that will ship with Windows 8 and you guessed it, one of them is a complete eco-system to run their “apps” many made originally for mobile devices running the Windows Phone OS.

Apple has almost formed a monopoly in this space, at least for paying app purchasers, but you will find that the Android marketplace has many applications that cost money for the IOS that are completely free to download. This makes the Android Marketplace and the BlueStacks App a very dangerous combination for both Microsoft and Apple. If you are looking for a way to break away from the herd and still have a huge selection of great apps, this may be just what you are looking for.

I have been using many different cases for my current phone, which happens to be an iPhone 4, no not an S yet. The fact that there are so many cases out there makes it easy to switch often and still feel like you are missing something. I have always been a fan of the bumper cases, especially the very thin ones, because they give you the most realistic feel and close to the original small form factor of the latest iPhone models. However, there some cases that actually add a little functionality besides just protecting these amazing gadgets.

So What Is The WipeCoin iPhone Case

The WipeCoin iPhone case is a new case that is manufacturered in Germany and in belief of full disclosure I will let you know that I was given one of these sweet cases for review and testing purposes. You can see everything I received in the package in the images below. Regardless of how
I came across this case, let’s get down to what does. This case has a small black or white (they come in both colors) round disc or coin, hence forth the name. This coin is lodged into a nice fitting location that does not impede the performance of the touchscreen nor does it get in the way of viewing. When you screen gets all smudged up, you simply slide the coin loose and wipe your screen, then return it to its parked position.

The Wipe Coin iPhone Case Is Very clever!

I think that no only the concept but the design of this new iPhone case are smart. The coin is covered with microfiber so your phone screen gets cleaned with no scratches and no lint left behind. the case does exactly what it is designed to do and it cost right around 20 bones on amazon.

Is The WipeCoin A Good Protective Case?

I think so, absolutely. The case is made of a rock solid material. I have ran not stress tests, but it seems like a very stable case that really keeps you phone locked in once you snap it into place. the case has a few contact points that grab the metal lip on the side of the phone. this also helps it stay very slim, because it almost sits completely flush with the front of the iPhone screen, I like this a lot.

Its Even Great For Gaming!

At first I thought that the small bubble at the bottom of the case where the coin sits would become a distraction, but much to the contrary, it became an obsession. I don’t know about everybody, but for myself, there are some games that have on screen buttons and as I play I just feel like I am always trying to get a good grip to reach the buttons while still holding on to the phone. The round “knob” at the bottom is great for games that you lay the phone on its side to play because you can wrap your pinkie finger around it like the bottom of a game controller. It is surprising comfortable and is an amazing and undocumented bonus for games.

For a while now, BlackBerry has made traditional looking business phones. However, the company has updated their mobile phones to now offer those having touchscreens. The first BlackBerry device to boast this feature will be the BlackBerry Curve Touch. This newest model will be different than previous models because it will not have a full QWERTY keyboard. This has long been a signature of BlackBerry mobile phones. However, with the new touchscreen this keyboard is not longer needed.

The overall size of the touchscreen found on the Curve will be somewhat smaller than other touchscreen devices. Part of the company’s decision to do this was to make the Curve more affordable to more people. Currently, the touchscreen is expected to measure 3.25 inches with a resolution of 480 by 360.

Every smartphone comes with some sort of operating system. The operating system featured on the BlackBerry Curve Touch is of course the BlackBerry operating system. However, it is the newest version which is OS 7. Even though the Curve touch now features different technology with the inclusion of a touchscreen, it still comes with other features that are part of BlackBerry smartphones. For instance, users of the Curve Touch would still be eligible to access apps found in the BlackBerry App World.

Many features have been included in the design of the BlackBerry Curve Touch. For instance, the camera comes with a 5 megapixel camera and a built in 1 GB flash. The camera is not exclusively for taking still images but can also handle videos as well.

Currently, the BlackBerry Curve Touch has not been released. However, its release is expected to occur later this year or early in 2012. This should create a lot of excitement in the world of mobile phones and provide some competition for other producers of touch screen devices; check out Dialaphone to find out more on this exciting development in tech.

Ten Signs Of A True Technology Geek

If you have a relative that is a technology geek, you are grateful. He can sit down at your computer and accomplish in a matter of minutes what may have taken you hours or days to figure out. Plus, he can save you a ton of money on tech support. If he is a ‘true’ technology geek, he will fit these 10 signs.

Jealous Wife – If he is married, his wife is jealous, not of other women, but of his electronics, which always have his attention more than she does.

GPS Dependent – A true technology geek can no longer give you directions anywhere. He is dependent on his gps to get him wherever he goes. Without it, he probably couldn’t find his way to work or back home again.

Digital Bathroom Reading – You will not find print magazines for reading material in the geek’s bathroom, a Kindle or Nook will be available with magazine subscriptions and the rest of his library. You will not find “The Dummies Guide…” to anything in his library.

Sweetheart Tweets – When a geek is feeling especially affectionate towards his wife, the world will know it, because he’ll send her a tweet telling her so, even if she’s sitting in the same room.

Lightning Fingers – Just watch their fingers fly over a keyboard, and you’ll know if they are true geek or not. The fastest typist in the world can’t keep up with the lightning fingers of a techno geek.

Black Friday Shopper – Yes, you will see the true technology geek out early on Black Friday and waiting in line before the stores open. Of course, he will be at the Apple Store, not Target, and Best Buy will be next on his list.

Harddrive Multiples – Most people only have harddrives in their computers. A few might have a backup harddrive. A true geek will have many, many harddrives of various sizes and they will probably all be full.

Trekky – This doesn’t mean that he wears Spock ears and dresses up in Star Trek uniforms, but he is a Star Trek fan nevertheless. Star Trek may have even been his first introduction to the fascinating world of technology.

Flash drive carrier – If you need a flash drive for any reason, just ask him. He probably has at least one on his key chain and another in his pocket. Why would you go anywhere without one?

Speaks Geek – He talks in a language that only other geeks can understand. He puts posts on facebook and twitter that are written totally in geek and are responded to in more geek language from his geek network. All of it remains gibberish to the rest of us. Flux capacitor?

If your techno geek does not possess all ten of these signs, then he may not be fully matured into true geekdom, as of yet. If no one stands in his way, he will get there. May he always be available when your computer crashes and your cellphone needs programming. We love our geeks!

Is everybody ready for a new iPhone release? It makes no difference rather you are ready or not the news media is stirring and it is about time to watch the live Apple event where the newest iPhone will be revealed. This is a much anticipated release, as all of Apples events are, which is going to make it possibly one of the largest Apple releases ever.

The BTDigg.org web site offers some very interesting technology that allows the end user to search for a bit torrent file without needing to connect to torrent trackers. This sounds like a great way to grab some cool stuff, however we would of course suggest that you only use this service to download and find legitimate files that do not go against any copyrights. The search is fast and easy, all you need to take advantage of the BTDigg search is a stand alone torrent download app and you are ready to go.

Have fun searching and downloading and please comment below and let us know how this bit torrent search engine works for you compared to other “old style” torrent finders.

I got one of these gadgets a while ago just because they are free. I do not currently run a business that accepts credit cards at a physical location, but in the past when I did it was a big headache. The Square merchant system really simplifies how merchants can accept payments and the hardware is totally free.

If you are not familiar with the square credit card reader you really should be. This new creation by Jack Dorsey is really changing the way that merchants are doing business. Just to have a merchant account and the ability to accept credit cards from your brick and mortar store used to be expensive. There were monthly fees, percentages on sales and usually even a flat fee per transaction on top of it all. This means that any business that wanted to except credit cards really had to do some investing and be able to take a hit on every dollar they made to make it feasible to do so.

Go get your free Square Credit Card Reader here.

My Square

Square not only makes it possible for anybody with an iPhone to take credit card payments right on their phone by swiping cards via the square dongle, bu they are also offering some of the most competitive rates in the industry. All this combined with a totally free setup and hardware shipped to door, may make this little company one of the larger credit card processing companies in the near future.

Mobile Credit Card Payments

The Square device allows cards to be swiped or punched in manually and it can be used anywhere that your phone has cell phone reception. This makes the Square device and service perfect for any traveling salesmen, flea market seller or anybody who needs to take credit card payments on the go. There has never been a faster, simpler and cheaper way to sell goods from any mobile location.

Now Even Cheaper

Square just sent out an email today stating that they would be doing away with the flat fee per transaction and now the only fee that will incur when you take payment is a 2.75% surcharge. This makes the Square company cheaper than Paypal!

All the tech sources were leaked information about Sprint’s up coming announcement. The Sprint release on February 7th promised to bring a big name to the stage “David Blaine” and a so called industry first. The tech critics were all all agreeing that they did not need to drag in a world famous magician to show off anything that was really amazing. It turns out that they really did have something that was worth showing and it also was truly and industry first.

The new Sprint Kyocera Echo is a totally new phone that is the worlds first dual screen cell phone. The new options of this phone are almost endless. Can you imagine viewing your favorite podcast on one screen and interacting with the chat room on the other? There are many different ways to use the dual screens on this phone and if you are a video lover, then use both screens together as one and enjoy a huge 4.7 diagonal screen. This new cell phone has a lot of potential and this may be the move that puts Sprint in the same spotlight as Verizon and AT&T.

When you open a new message in Facebook it currently says you can add an email address to send a message to, but many users have found that even this newly added feature is not working yet. If you are one of the many Facebook users who is wander where the new Facebook email is you are not alone. Facebook has recently purchased FB.com from the Farm Bureau and this may be what they are going to use for the new email addresses to allow users to have a very short url.

The mail system from Facebook has yet to officially roll out, but you can currently ask for an early invite to the Facebook email system if you are interested in checking out the newest Facebook features. Here is the address of the official Facebook email request page: http://www.facebook.com/about/messages/

Have fun checking out the new Facebook email and hopefully you get your invite soon. I for one am not sure if using a dedicated Facebook email address has any value for me, but there are many people who are very excited about this new feature. I am more interested in getting accepted into the Google CR-48 Notebook Pilot Program! If you are already using the Facebook email please leave a comment below and let everybody know what you think about this new service from FB.

The Google notebook is coming very near. In fact they are already asking for testers, to start tinkering around with their new prototype Chrome powered notebooks. The Google CR-48 Chrome notebook is going to start shipping out to a few lucky souls for absolutely free before the end of the year. Yes, you may actually know somebody who has already received an invite or you have just stumbled upon their Pilot Program where you, your business or your organization can apply to be the first testers on the market.

This new Google authorized notebook will be sure to turn some head and raise the question “Do we really need a operating system at all?” to many users. The cloud based Chrome OS is about ready to hit the streets for real and only time will tell how earth shattering this news really is. There are a lot of consumers who have high hopes for Google making a serious move in the PC world and bringing affordable and usable computers to the masses once and for all.

The very nondescript look of the laptop is definitely a way to keep prying eyes from knowing what you are working with, but because they have already put images on the net, we don’t know why they did not at least slap a Google sticker on the back of it.

Google Cr-48 Chrome Notebook

There are no complete spec sheets on what Google has put together yet. However, here is what Google is saying about the first ever official Google Chrome Laptop:

The Cr-48 is the test notebook we designed for the Pilot program. It’s the first of its kind.

It’s ready when you are, booting in about 10 seconds and resuming from sleep instantly. There’s built-in Wi-Fi and 3G, so you can stay connected everywhere, and a webcam for video chat. The vibrant 12-inch LCD display, full-size keyboard and oversized touchpad let you enjoy the web comfortably. And at just 3.8 pounds with over eight hours of active usage and a week of standby time, it’s easy to take along for the ride.

What did we leave out? Spinning disks, caps-lock key, function keys, and lap burns.

The Cr-48 is available exclusively to participants in the Pilot program.

In every new release of the Mac OS X there have been some secret back doors built in to allow users access to reset the administrator password. Some people consider these to be gaping security holes. However, for innocent users who need to reset the password on Mac OS X 10.5 or any other release of the Apple Operating Systems these have been very useful and come in handy more times than I would like to admit.

I recently ran into a situation where I needed to reset the administrator password on a Mac Mini that had been updated to the latest release of Mac OS X Snow Leopard and I did not have the install discs, if you have the install discs you can boot these and reset the password in the recovery console rather simply. If you are not so lucky as to have these discs there is a fairly easy way to bypass the administrator login and change the admin password. If you read online for ways to reset the admin password without a cd/dvd many methods will show you how to delete the admin account and to me this just sounds like asking for trouble. Here is the way I reset the admin password on my Mac Mini Running OS X 10.5.7 and it worked like a charm!

Secret Back Door Admin Reset For Mac OS X 10.5 Snow Leapard

Boot into single user mode (press and hold Command-S on boot)

Type fsck -fy and hit enter (this will assure the disk integrity before we begin)

Type mount -uw / (this mounts the file system so we can work with it)

Type launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.DirectoryServices.plist (more files that must be loaded to use)

Type dscl . -passwd /Users/username password (you will put the admin user name and password in place of those words in this command)

That is it you are ready to rock with a new password. Once you reboot you will be prompted for your password. You can now login to Snow Leapard and rename the admin or make a new account to use.

This is not something you will want to try if you are not familiar with the Apple command line or if you have sensitive data on your machine. Of course you should always back up everything before you attempt to do something like this, just in case of a typo!

The Apple iPad was the first tablet PC that has ever been warmly accepted by the general public. We all know that the tablet concept is nothing new, these touch screen devices have been around for years, many different companies have released a tablet PC with Microsoft Windows up to 10 years ago. However, none of these were successful in the consumer market. Apple has changed all of this with their hugely popular iPad. This tablet has been raising a lot of brows and almost a year after its release it is finally getting some competition. There have been many companies that have talked about building a similar device, but there have been no real competitors show their faces until the guys from RIM (the makers of Blackberry devices) made an announcement yesterday.

This new device is being called the Blackberry PlayBook and it will only offer a 7″ screen, but some think that this size will actually be beneficial and offer more portability than the iPad and hope that this becomes a selling point for them. Watch the video below to see some footage from the actual release of this new tablet device.

However, the concept phone that they have labeled “SeaBird” would make anybody in their right mind think that they may have a trick to two up their sleeve that they are not letting the public know about quite yet. This phone is simply crazy cool looking and you know what, most of the technology used in the amazing cell phone concept video below is definitely a few years off. This does not mean that the masterminds at Mozilla are not working on the next iPhone killer in secret!

If you have ever wondered how a person could take everything that we thought we knew and loved about a cell phone and totally crush that idea, then inject some new ideas that make geeks spiddle from the mouth, these guys have done it. Just watch the video below and then sit back and think for a minute…would I really want something this cool or not?

Read More About The Mozilla Labs Seabird Cell Phone Concept Here.

This is going to get Nokia and any other company that wants to be a big player in the cell phone industry in the next 5 to 10 years to start re-thinking their strategies and start thinking about how to compete with what Mozilla may have in the oven right now. If you want to learn more about this amazing looking cell phone concept and join the community that is helping develop its concepts, design and more, make sure to visit the Mozilla Labs web site for all the info you need to get this cell phone from the drawing board to your pocket!

They have only been allowing users who have received an invite to take part in this beta and it filled up very fast! The Google Voice service allows people to use a myriad of very cool and useful phone services. You can forward phone calls to different phone numbers based on the caller id or the name of the caller. Another great feature offered by this service is the ability to receive your voice mail in your email. Google’s servers will actually translate voice into text for you. There are many other great features being offered and for now at least they are all free to use, except calling overseas.

There is no more waiting for an initiation, now you can simply go signup at the site : http://voice.google.com You can choose to get a new phone number to tie to your account or you can use an existing mobile number for your service. Both have their advantages, so choose wisely!

The newest jailbreak news is from the United States Government. There have been thousands upon thousands of iPhone owners who have jailbroken their phones and up until now it has been a very touchy subject, both legally and morally. The jailbreak iPhone apps have given Apple phone users the ability to install any application they wanted and add functionality to their iPhone that was not allowed by standard iTunes apps. The Jailbreak is the ultimate in software freedom for any iPhone fan. Taking the features and functionality to the next level was the concept that has driven the Cydia and Rock app developers for years and Apple has never been comfortable with these new options and possible loss in their own sales due to these competitors.

Apple Locks Down iPhone Jailbreaking and Kills iTunes Accounts

Since iTunes 9.2 and the iOS 4 Apple has required users to agree to a EULA that stated that Apple had the right to snoop your iPhone or iPod Touch to see if you were using nonstandard software. If you were using Jailbroken apps and features it was being reported by many users that they were getting suspended from iTunes and sometime even from their carrier. Well, I am here to tell you that this is thing of the past. You no longer have to worry about getting caught using the software you want. No longer is it legal for Apple to punish users for using third party software on iPhones or performing the common hack that is referred to as “Jailbreaking” your iPhone.

US Government Gives Consumers iPhone Freedom

The government has passed legislation that makes it totally legal to jailbreak your iPhone. You don’t have to worry about getting hassled from Apple or your cell phone carrier when you perform this any more. It has been decided that jail-breaking your iPhone is not only legal, but does not break any user agreement that Apple has stood behind in the past.

Apple’s Official ResponseTo Legal Jailbreaking

Just like in any situation Apple always has a reply even when they really should not. This situation is no different than the others, except this time they kept Steve Jobs out of the mix. This quote below is from apples official spokesperson, unfortunately there was no crazy email from Mr. Jobs on this one.

Apple’s goal has always been to insure that our customers have a great experience with their iPhone and we know that jailbreaking can severely degrade the experience. As we’ve said before, the vast majority of customers do not jailbreak their iPhones as this can violate the warranty and can cause the iPhone to become unstable and not work reliably.

It would seem that Apple is trying to hold their ground even when there is nothing to hold onto in this case. The simple fact is that you can do what you want with hardware you purchased according to the US government no matter if it is an iPhone or any other cell phone or device. So have fun and what are you waiting for, lets jailbreak em all!

Google is a company that millions love and most people have a very high level of confidence in. Most people overlook the fact that much like Microsoft and other huge companies, they to have bought out and squashed more than one competitor in their time, because they keep dangling something shiny in front of us to keep us distracted. After all free stuff sure makes people forget about a lot of not so sound choices they may have made in the past and Google definitely provides plenty of free stuff for us.

So many are already aware of the new and very cool “free” service Google has started called Google Voice. This was a great idea and many people are using this service to it’s fullest by taking advantage of the totally free phone number they give you, the customized answering service that can be used from the internet or email, call filtering to only redirect calls you want and much more. All in all the Google Voice service is simply amazing and a great value even if they were charging for it. The ability to take your voice messages in your email after they have been magically translated into text for you should be a service on it’s own, but it is just one part of this great package Google is offering for free.

I was doing some research on free calling from the internet and was surprised to find how many services still offer totally free calling from your PC. However, in my journey I ran across this post on 100% free voip phone service using Google Voice and Gizmo which really got me exited about using the free “Skype” like app called Gizmo and the free phone number from Google paired together to make a totally free functional intnernet phone. However, once I tried to access the Gizmo website, I realized it was down. So back to the search engine and I soon found this link on Google’s own website http://www.google.com/gizmo5/

So it looks like Google has already acquired this company and is planning on integrating it with their Google voice service. Once this takes place it will cost to make outgoing calls, pretty much like the service that Skype is offering. With heavy competition from companies like Vonage and my personal favorite Magic Jack, it will be interesting to see how Google fits into the new age of VOIP and how long before the telephone companies that we now know are gone altogether. You can read more about this on the Google Voice Blog here.

It took a while, but now that the small mini laptops that we now refer to as “Netbooks” have finally become hugely popular, mostly due to their price reduction, we all want better and faster mini notebook PC’s. The manufacturers have responded to the high level of demand for better quality Netbooks and are getting ready to start kicking out new lines of Netbooks with Duel Core Processors. This is only a natural transition as micro-computing or mobile-computing become more of a common place practice in the daily lives of so many people world wide.

Netbook’s Need More Power

The Netbooks that are currently available are very capable of running either a Linux or Windows OS, basic productivity software and of course your web browser of choice. However, we all want more. What about games, high end image apps and of course better video without lag? These are just some of the problems that the old single core processors were simple not capable of keeping up with and the new processors should excel at. Dictated by the size of hte hardware used to make these miniature laptops they will most likely always be a step behind their bigger brothers, but for now this will be a much appreciated and much needed leap in the right direction for those who love the compact size and portability of these tiny devices.

Netbook Deals

Since the new wave of netbooks is coming, expect to see close out prices on many different Netbook models in stores and online. The local Best Buy is even clearing their current inventory out to make room for the next generation of Netbooks, so you may check local big box retail stores or online deals sites for their netbook deals while this years stock is still around. Once the new duel core netbooks make it to market, expect to see a higher price tag, but it should be well worth the boost in speed and performance.

Thanks Intel

Of course the chipset maker “Intel” is who is behind the new chipset that will be used on these next gen Netbooks and we wanted to say thanks. The new Intel Atom Dual Core N330 Processor 1.6GHz is already being shipped in some Asus Netbooks. It will only be a few weeks before you can expect to see all the other companies starting to include these new faster processors. The next generation of these cool little laptops will prove to be stronger and faster than ever before and may continue to kill full size laptop sales as they will still be cheaper than their full sized counterparts.

Here are the tech specs for one of these new duel core chips from Intel:

The Google image search has to be one of the most popular image search tools on the planet. Pulling images from almost ever site that it has indexed even huge photo sites like Flickr and PhotoBucket make it to listings here, this makes it possibly one of the strongest tools ever created to find online images of pretty much anything that could come to mind, both good and bad, some argue. Regardless, there are other image searches that many people think are dominant in layout and usability, well Google does not like to be 2nd bet at anything so they have changed up their image search display to see what the consumer thinks now!

It looks to be a very fast loading setup that offers a image only page display until you have hovered over an image. Once you click on an image, you are taken to the website where the image originated, much like before, but now the image is shown big and ready to view in a clean looking ajax shadow box effect over the website instead of being at the top of the page and small. This really makes it easy for webmasters who are searching for graphics that have been “labeled for reuse” because it cuts one step out of the image download process, cool.

They will surely be tweaking this and making some other small changes. We all know that once they start changing something, they just can’t stop right? Well, it is looking good so far if you ask me and I can’t wait to see what they are going to do next. Just wanted to take a quick second to let everybody know that the world’s best image search, just got better.

Amazon has noticed it’s growing popularity and has decided to buy them out. It sounds like there will be very few if any changes to the existing site. The only thing that we believe will change is the one off deals, will now be provided by Amazon.com. This is not a surprise as the huge e-commerce machine known as Amazon has already explored the daily deal marketing method with their own Daily GoldBox Deal section on their main site and now has found another outlet to further monopolize on consumers interest in online savings.

To learn more about the transition to take place and hear what the guys at Woot! have to say here is a great article found on the official Woot site: Amazon, Woot and You

The app is called Cloud Browse, so go download it now if you want to watch flash videos and more on your own iPhone. The app is totally free at this point, but will most likely turn into a paid application soon enough. Through the use of a VPN type connection Cloud Browse allows you a remote connection to a Firefox web browser that allows you to do anything you would normally be able to do using the Firefox browser including using the browser to display flash output on your Apple iPhone.

This is the first application to successfully make flash work without totally slowing down the application it was using. The older java apps were slow as snot and were almost useless. The Cloud Browse application has a lot of promise and we hope that Apple allows it to remain on the App Store.

Radio Shack has one of the most interesting deals out there right now. They will buy your old iPhone from you. They are promising to pay at least $100 iPhone 3G models and $200 for iPhone 3GS models that do not have water damage or cracked screens. The price may be much more depending on the condition of your phone and your account history with AT&T, but this is one promotion that you will not find anywhere else.

You can validate this offer by seeing this official tweet on the Radio Shack Twitter page : http://twitter.com/RadioShack/status/16308172763

Have you heard you tech savvy buddies talking about their new ESATA drive and you have no idea what they are talking about? Well, they are not talking in a different language, they are simply talking about one of the newest hard drives. These drives are offer a faster read speed than older drives and are not becoming a new standard in the desktop PC world. There are always faster and more reliable hard drive technologies being tested and used, this is where the future of hard drive technology is heading right now. If you want to be able to join in on the next “geek” conversation with your friends and maybe even tell them a thing or two, keep reading.

What are ESATA Enclosures?

ESATA is the external extension of the SATA device protocols. ESATA stands for External Serial Advanced Technology Attachment. SATA is the current standard for hard drives in PC’s. ESATA allows the speed and convenience of SATA to be applied to devices external of the PC. These often come in the form of ESATA Drive enclosures. These are devices that contain one or more SATA HDD’s but which reside outside of the PC and are connected via a special ESATA cable. They offer all of the convenience of standard external drives, but with the speed associated with internal SATA Drives. Compared to the more conventional interface for external drives, USB2, the speed differences are enormous. SATA can operate at up to 6Gbps, while USB2 is limited to 480mbps. While neither standard offers real world transfers at those rates, the difference is speed is fairly accurate.

What to look for in ESATA Enclosures

ESATA Enclosures come in a myriad of formats. From simple, single drive setups to large raid boxes using SATA Port Multiplexing to attach many HDD’s over one SATA connection. Many ESATA Enclosures come with USB connections as well, allowing you to connect to older, less feature packed PC’s which lack the ESATA Connection, thus giving you a universal option when needed, and a high performance option when available. Cooling fans are often incorporated and are a good idea in any enclosure. HDD’s typically have some airflow provided to them inside a PC and they should get the same in an external box.

Where to buy ESATA Enclosures

As with most electronics, there are many reputable internet retailers who provide a wide variety of models at competitive prices. Some good places to start would be:
www.amazon.com – Amazon offers many different ESATA Enclosures, from the simplest single drive versions to multiple drive, port multiplexed options.

www.newegg.com – They offer many models of enclosures at very competitive prices.

You could go out and download a distribution of any flavor of linux, but hey, what if there was an opperating system that was specifically designed for the netbook user and the netbook hardware in mind? Would you check it out? We sure did and we think that this hot new release is well worth featuring. To technology industry leaders, this little OS is nothing to be afraid of or is it?

The mobile industry will hold more users than the desktop PC industry will in the next couple years. It is a fact, no we are not mind readers, thats just how the numbers play out. So if a new Operating System came along and started making its way onto many “where used to be” Windows Operating System machines, well we think that should raise some eyebrows.

Meego Net Book OS?

Yes, it may sound strange and this may be the first time you have heard of a “Netbook Operating System” and that is O.K. because this is the first OS to be released that is built specifically for netbook computers. The rise of popularity of mobile devices and the cheaper smaller laptop computer that we now refer to as Netbooks have brought on this new breed of mini operating systems. We don’t mean that they have limited features or functionality, only that these new netbook operating systems are build to run quickly on computers with mobile processors and low physical memory on board.

This will surely be a huge push in the next few quarters as the iPad continues to take hold in the tablet market and many others are releasing similar tablet web devices. The Meego OS is a combination of 2 pre-existing Operating systems combined together. If you take the best of what he hugely popular Maemo Operating system Nokia packages on it’s N900 model and the Intel created Moblin Linux platform and squish them together, you get Meebo. A fast non-resource intensive graphical user interface that offers a complete operating system and many highly effective web integrated tools. This culmination of 2 of the most powerful mobile operating systems into one is what some are calling a match made in heaven.

So What Software Comes On It

The Meego Netbook OS is not going to come with Microsoft office or other MS apps, so if that is what you are looking for, you are going to have to put up with the slow Netbook you own. On the other hand you can get to the internet, so you already have your Google Docs account, right?

To make the web faster, this new Meego OS leverages the power of the fast loading and extend able Google Chrome Browser and some other familiar tools as well. You will find many web applications to access twitter and other sites like this along with a full featured media manager. You have access to a media player that lets you play and manage all your favorite music, movies and more. Don’t forget the awesome email client that also comes built in.

There are not as many applications that may come on a Windows installation on the Meego OS, but that is kinda the point. You have access to everything you need and not all the extra junk that Microsoft tries to bundle together and slow down your laptop. This OS is made for systems with mobile processors, but we are pretty sure that they will be releasing a version that will be compatible with all X86 processors soon enough.

Meego Operating System On Your Cell Phone

The Meego operating system is also ready for use with a few cellular phones and other mobile devices that have a Mobile Atom processor. So if you are interested in getting the most out of your smart phone, the Meego OS may have just what you have been looking for. The Meego OS is new and will still be working out some kinks for some time, but seems to be fully functional, so if you are looking for something different then MEEGO!
